SUPPORTING PASSAGE
OF HOUSE BILL 1214
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi owns and operates petroleum storage
tanks; and
WHEREAS, the expense of corrective actions associated with remediation of
spills and leaks from these petroleum storage tanks can be partly recovered under the State
of Texas' petroleum storage tank remediation fund; and
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi has several sites that will be eligible
for coverage under the remediation fund; and
WHEREAS, House Bill 1214 has been introduced to reduce the amount of the
first expenses an owner or operator will be responsible for paying under the reimbursement
fund;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi supports House Bill 1214.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager and staff are directed to advise all local
legislators and other pertinent officials of this resolution, and to take all steps necessary to
support House Bill 1214.
