AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION OF LOTS 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12,
BLOCK 73, BROOKLYN ADDITION, CONTAINING AN AREA OF APPROXIMATELY
42,000 SQ. FT., FOR $1,100; AND THE ACQUISITION OF A 35.07 ACRE
TRACT OF LAND, MORE OR LESS, OF A 400 -ACRE TRACT OF THE MARIANO
L. DE HERRERA GRANT, ADJACENT TO BOTH THE NUECES RIVER AND HAZEL
BAZEMORE PARK, AS MORE FULLY DESCRIBED BY A METES AND BOUNDS
DESCRIPTION ATTACHED AS EXHIBIT "A" HERETO, FOR $6,000; AND
APPROPRIATING $9,000 FROM THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TRUST FUND
FOR ACQUISITION AND CLOSING COSTS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to
execute the documents necessary to acquire Lots 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12,
Block 73, Brooklyn Addition, containing an area of approximately 42,000
square feet, from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation for $1,100;
and a 35.07 acre tract of land, more or less, of a 400 -acre tract of the
Mariano L. De Herrera Grant, adjacent to both the Nueces River and Hazel
Bazemore Park, as more fully described by a metes and bounds description
attached as Exhibit "A" hereto, from the Federal Deposit Insurance
Corporation for $6,000.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $9,000 from the
Economic Development Trust Fund for acquisition and closing costs.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five
Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to
the need for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs,
such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of
the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at three
regular meetings so that this ordinance is passedd shall ta$g effect
upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 1 day of
19q11 .

LEGAL DESCRIPTION
LOCATION: 35.07 acre site located along the southern boundary
of the Nueces River within Nueces County, Texas.
TRACT II:
Fieldnotes for a 35.07 acre tract of land, more or less, out of a 400
acre tract of the Mariano L. DeHerrer Grant, Abstract 606; said 400
acre tract conveyed by Bess L. Hurt, et vir, to Nina G. Stewart, widow
by Deed dated June 23, 1944, and recorded in Volume 300, Page 153, Deed
Records of Nueces County, Texas:
BEGINNING at the Southwest corner of this tract, from which corner the
Northeast corner of Lot 41, Block 1, Wood River Unit 5, a map of which
is recorded in Volume 48, Pages 118 and 119, Map Records of Nueces
County, Texas, bears South 17 deg. 06' 15" West, 474.27 feet, then
North 73 deg. 00' 40" West, 360.51 feet to the Northwest corner of a
102.62 acre tract known as Riverhills Country Club and thence South
16 deg. 56' 20" West, 226.32 feet;
THENCE North 17 deg. 06' 15" East, 1066.68 feet to a point on the
South bank of the Nueces River for the Northwest corner of this tract;
THENCE along the South bank of the Nueces River, as follows:
33'00" East, 96.67 feet'
33'40" East, 307.83 feet;
04'50" East, 302.66 feet;
11'45" East, 300.24 feet;
North 81 deg.
North 85 deg.
South 89 deg.
South 79 deg.
and
South 74 deg. 32'15" East, 207.22 feet
for the northeast corner of this tract;
THENCE South 09 deg. 50' 45" West, along the East boundary line of

tract;
THENCE North 84 deg. 54' 24" West, 243.52 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance an emergency
exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at
three regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule and pass this
ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
