AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER 53, TRAFFIC,
SECTION 53-254, SCHEDULE V, INCREASING STATE SPEED LIMITS IN
CERTAIN ZONES; AND PROVIDING FOR THE INCREASE OR
DECREASE OF SPEED LIMITS UPON CERTAIN STREETS WITHIN THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances, City of Corpus Christi, Chapter 53,
Traffic, Section 53-254, Schedule V, Increase of State Speed Limits in Certain Zones, is hereby
amended by deleting the following sections:
South Padre Island Drive (S.H. 358) Frontage Roads, North and South Frontage Roads:
From a point 2,050 feet southwest of Trojan Drive (Sta. 601 + 28.89) to the
centerline of West Point Road (Sta. 670 + 00), on the North Frontage Road -- 45
MPH -- At all times.
From a point 500 feet east of West Point Road (Sta. 667 + 50) to Ayers Street
(Sta. 572 + 89.87), on the South Frontage Road -- 45 MPH -- At all times.
South Padre Island Drive (S.H. 358) Expressway Lanes:
From a point 4,125 feet south of S.H. 44 to a point 1,152 feet north of Leopard
Street (S.H. 9) -- 55 MPH -- At all times.
South Padre Island Drive and Park Road 22 (S.H. 358):
From a point 2,055.05 feet northwest of the centerline of Ayers Street (S.H. 286)
to a point 2,700 feet south of the centerline of Agnes Street (S.H. 44) -- 60 MPH -
- At all times.
From a point 2,700 feet south of the centerline of Agnes Street (S.H. 44) to a
point 700 feet south of the same intersection -- 55 MPH -- At all times.
From a point 700 feet south of the centerline of Agnes Street (S.H. 44) to a point,
1,000 feet north of the same intersection -- 45 MPH -- At all times.
From a point 1,000 feet north of the centerline of Agnes Street (S.H. 44) to a
point 1,166 feet south of Leopard Street (S.H. 9) -- 55 MPH -- At all times.

SECTION 2. That the Code of Ordinances, City of Corpus Christi, Chapter 53,
Traffic, Section 53-254, Schedule V, Increase of State Speed Limits in Certain Zones, is hereby
amended by adding the following sections:
North Padre Island Drive (S.H. 358) Frontage Roads. both frontage roads:
From Bear Lane (Sta. 743 + 55) to a point approximately 2,000 feet south of
Forest Lane (Sta. 777 + 00 southbound and Sta. 777 + 00 northbound) -- 50
MPH -- At all times.
South Padre Island Drive (S.H. 358) Frontage Roads. North and South Frontage Roads:
From a point approximately 2,050 feet southwest of Trojan Drive (Sta. 601 +
28.89) to Bear Land (Sta. 743 + 55), on the North Frontage Road -- 50 MPH --
At all times.
From Bear Lane (Sta. 743 + 55) to Ayers Street (Sta. 572 + 89.87), on the South
Frontage Road -- 50 MPH -- At all times.
North Padre Island Drive and South Padre Island Drive (S.H. 358) Expressway Lanes:
From a point approximately 1,600 feet southeast of Greenwood Drive (Sta. 610 +
00) to a point approximately 1,152 feet north of Leopard Street (Sta. 877 + 02.90)
-- 55 MPH -- At all times.
Saratoga Boulevard (S.H. 357):
From Ayers Street (S.H. 286) to Greenwood Drive -- 50 MPH -- At all times.
SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word,
or provisions of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a
court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance for it is the definite intent of this City
Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provisions hereof be
given full force and effect for its purpose.
SECTION 4. Publication shall be made one time in the official publication of the City of
Corpus Christi by publishing the caption stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance, this
ordinance to become effective upon such publication.
