WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi is very cognizant of the fact that they are entrusted with oversight of expenditure of taxpayers' money and are therefore responsible for conserving funds generated from taxes as much as possible; WHEREAS, the process of changing the names of streets is a very expensive venture, not only through direct costs expended by the City, but also for individuals and businesses with property on the affected street; WHEREAS, the City Council Members are of the opinion that deserving citizens could be recognized and honored in more innovative ways than by having a street named for them; and BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. The City Council serving during the 1991-93 term of office hereby establishes a policy of declining to change the names of streets in the City of Corpus Christi except under unusual, extenuating circumstances.
