AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF
$510,265 WITH GARRETT & ASSOCIATES FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF
CHANNEL IMPROVEMENTS TO MARY CARROLL CHANNEL FROM SOUTH
STAPLES STREET TO RODD FIELD ROAD; APPROPRIATING $106,146 FROM THE
STORM SEWER BOND FUND AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a contract in
the amount of $510,265 with Garrett & Associates to construct channel improvements to Mary
Carroll Channel from South Staples Street to Rodd Field Road, and appropriating $106,146 from
the Storm Sewer Bond Fund, all as more fully set forth in the plans and specifications and contract
documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by
reference and according to the bid of Garrett & Associates said bid being the lowest and most
advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated $76,040 from the No. 511 Storm
Sewer Bond Fund unappropriated fund balance and $30,106 from the Storm Sewer Bond Fund
Construction Interest to Project No. 511-601-608.06 Mary Carroll Channel Widening.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Councilmembers, copy
attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for the efficient and effective
administration of City affairs, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring
suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordiances at three regular
meetings so that this ordinance is pass5d and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance an emergency
exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at
three regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule and pass this
ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
