HomeMy WebLinkAbout021210 ORD - 08/06/1991AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY CODE BY AMENDING SECTION 18-20, AMBULANCE RATES, TO PROVIDE FOR AN INCREASE IN FEES; PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Code is hereby amended by amending Article II, Emergency Medical Service, Chapter 18, Fire Prevention and Protection, Section 18-20, Ambulance Rates, to read as follows: Sec. 18-20. Ambulance Rates. Ambulance rates for Emergency Medical Service shall be charged as follows: A. Base Rates (1) Basic life support base rate (BLS) (2) Advanced life support base rate (ALS) (3) Neonate transport (Charged to the requesting hospital) (4) Neonate transport (additional charge for those calls which exceed one hour in length or any part thereof) (5) Out of city calls, basic life support (6) Out of city calls, advanced life support (7) Basic aid, no transport (8) Advanced aid, no transport (9) Basic Aid, no transport, outside city limits (10) Advanced Aid, no transport, outside city limits $250.00 350.00 275.00 110.00 300.00 400.00 60.00 300.00 85.00 350.00 B. Supplementary Charges (1) Emergency runs within or outside the city, but within Nueces County, requiring the administration of oxygen, providing a $15.00 charge in addition to the appropriate charge defined in Subsection A of this Section. MISC:91143 skp Providing a mileage charge of $3.00 per mile for those calls inside the city limits and $6.00 for those calls out of the city limits, from patient pick up point to the hospital. Providing a fee for responding to a medical alarm which is a malfunction, no one at home, no one injured, $60.00 021210 hibafilloED (4) The City Manager is authorized to establish charges, not to exceed the reasonable cost of providing the service, for other supplementary services such as providing standby equipment and crews at special events and attending training courses. C. That the Corpus Christi EMS ambulance service rates be reviewed as needed to determine the need for increases. SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 3. Publication shall be made one time in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi by publishing the caption stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance, this ordinance to become effective upon such publication.
