AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER 4, ALCOHOLIC
BEVERAGES, SECTION 4-1, ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ON PUBLIC SCHOOL
PROPERTY AND IN CERTAIN PARK AREAS; AND CHAPTER 36, PARKS,
RECREATION, CULTURAL, AND LEISURE TIME ACTIVITIES, SECTION 36-11,
CURFEW; ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, BY PROHIBITING THE POSSESSION, USE,
OR CONSUMPTION OF ANY ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE IN CERTAIN DESIGNATED
PARKS AND RECREATIONAL FIELDS DURING CERTAIN HOURS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances, Chapter 4, Section 4-1, is hereby
amended by deleting it in its entirety and replacing it with the following:
Sec. 4-1. Alcoholic beverages on public school property and in certain park areas.
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to possess, use, or consume any
alcoholic beverage, as defined by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code, on or within
any property situated within the city limits now or hereafter owned by any
independent school district.
(b) It shall be unlawful for any person to possess, use, or consume any
alcoholic beverage, as defined in the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code, on or within
five hundred (500) feet of any softball, baseball, soccer, or kickball field owned,
operated, maintained, or programmed by the city without the written approval of the
director of parks and recreation department, a list of such parks shall be maintained
in the office of the director of parks and recreation department. In no case,
however, shall this prohibition apply outside the property lines of the city park within
which such softball, baseball, soccer, or kickball field is contained.
SECTION 2. That the Code of Ordinances, Chapter 36, Section 36-11, is hereby
amended by deleting it in its entirety and replacing it with the following:
Sec. 36-11. Curfew; alcoholic beverages.
(a) Between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., no person, without the prior
written approval of the director of parks and recreation, shall possess any alcoholic
beverages in any city park or the parking lots connected therewith or adjacent to, excluding
the Bayfront Arts and Science Park, Barge Dock, Peoples Street T -Head, Lawrence Street
T -Head, and L -Head.

(b) Between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, no
person, without prior approval of the city council, shall possess any alcoholic beverages in
any of the following city parks:

Oak Westgate Molina Veterans
Joe Garza John Jones Moody
Fountain West Haven Wiggins
Elgin Lawson Edgewood
H. E. Butt Broadmoor Louisiana Parkway
Botsford Los Encinos North Pope
Lindale Brawner Parkway Flynn Shea Parkway
Lincoln Malibu Windsor
Schanen Middlecoff Cullen
Lions Brookdale Casa Linda
Candlewood South Sea Country Club
South Pope Brockhampton Casa Linda Park
Willow Sam Houston
Dr. H. P. Garcia Almanza
or in any city park any portion of which is within one thousand five hundred (1,500) feet of
any public or private elementary or secondary school, as measured in a straight line from
any point on the school property to any point in the park.
(c) Between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., no person shall enter or be
present in any city park or parking lots connected therewith or adjacent thereto, excluding
the Bayfront Parks, Bayfront Arts and Science Park, Barge Dock, Peoples Street T -Head,
Lawrence Street T -Head, and the L -Head; and excluding persons permitted by ordinance
to camp in particular city parks, city employees in performance of their duties, and persons
permitted to engage in leisure and recreational activities under the auspices of the parks and
recreation department.
(d) Between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., no person, except as specifically
permitted by an ordinance permitting camping in particular city parks, and except for city
employees in performance of their duties, shall enter or be present in any city bayfront park
or parking lots connected therewith or adjacent thereto, excluding the Bayfront Arts and
Science Park, Barge Dock, Peoples Street T -Head, Lawrence Street T -Head, and the L -
Head.
SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of
a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision,

clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance for it is the definite intent of this City Council
that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be given full
force and effect for its purpose.
SECTION 4. Publication shall be made one time in the official publication of the
City of Corpus Christi by publishing the caption stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance,
this ordinance to become effective upon such publication.
