AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ADMINISTRATION, SECTION 2-151,
STEERING COMMITTEE, OF THE CITY CODE OF ORDINANCES TO
INCREASE THE NUMBER OF MEMBERS ON THE STEERING COMMITTEE
OF THE SISTER CITY COMMITTEE FROM 15 TO 21; AND PROVIDING
FOR SEVERANCE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Section 2-151, Steering Committee, of
Chapter 2, Administration, of the City Code of Ordinances is
hereby amended by increasing the number of members on the
steering committee of the Sister City Committee from fifteen (15)
to twenty one (21) so that said Section 2-151 shall hereafter
read as follows:
"Sec. 2-151. Steering committee.
The sister city committee shall consist of a steering
committee and various subcommittees.
The steering committee shall consist of twenty one (21)
members who shall be broadly representative of racial,
religious and ethnic groups in the community. The members
shall be appointed by the city council and shall serve
three-year terms or until their successors are appointed
and qualified. The steering committee shall be
responsible for the overall administration and
implementation for the city's sister city program."
SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph,
subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance
shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a
court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other
section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or
provision hereof of this ordinance for it is the definite intent
of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be given full force and
effect for its purpose.
