SUPPORTING DETOXIFICATION SERVICES FOR
JUVENILES AS REQUESTED BY THE NUECES COUNTY
DETOXIFICATION TASK FORCE
WHEREAS, presently there are no adequate community facilities to hold youth
arrested in a state of intoxication; and
WHEREAS, such absence of facilities is detrimental to youth and requires a
waste of police resources; and
WHEREAS, the Nueces County Detoxification Task Force, headed by State
Representative Todd Hunter, has proposed a solution involving contracting with existing
hospitals to assess and care for such youthful violators.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council endorses the proposal of the
Detoxification Task Force and expresses its intention to support the proposed solution.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager is directed to distribute this resolution
to all interested persons and entities.
