AN ORDINANCE
ORDINANCE APPROVING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO
THE TEXAS COMMISSION ON ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE TO IMPLEMENT
A MIDDLE SCHOOL "DARE" PROGRAM AND A SUMMER DAY CAMP FOR
CHILDREN ENTITLED "CAMP KID," AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE THE CONTRACT ACCEPTING THE GRANT, AND DESIGNATING THE
CHIEF OF POLICE AS THE OFFICIAL REPRESENTATIVE OF THE CITY;
APPROPRIATING ALL MONIES RECEIVED FROM TCADA PURSUANT TO THE
GRANT AND APPROPRIATING THE REQUIRED 5 PERCENT MATCH FROM THE
LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND, FUND NO. 111-000-243.12-000; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1: Ordinance approving the submission of a grant application to the Texas
Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse to implement a middle school "DARE" program and a
summer day camp for children entitled "Camp Kid," authorizing the City Manager to execute the
contract accepting the grant, and designating the Chief of Police as the official representative of
the City; appropriating all monies received from TCADA pursuant to the grant and appropriating
the required 5 percent match from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Fund No. 111-000-243.12-000.
SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy
attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the
efficient and effective administration of City affairs, such finding of an emergency is made and
declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances
at three regular meetings so that this rdinance ' assed and shall take effect upon first reading
as an emergency measure this theday o , 1992.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance an emergency
exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at

ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
