AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER 53, SECTION 53-250,
SCHEDULE 1- (ONE-WAY STREETS AND ALLEYS) BY CHANGING CHAPARRAL
STREET FROM A ONE-WAY (NORTHBOUND) TRAFFIC PATTERN TO A TWO-
WAY TRAFFIC PAI I'ERN BETWEEN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 37 (EASTBOUND
LEG) AND BELDEN STREET; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances, Chapter 53, Section 53-250,
Schedule I -One way streets and alleys, is hereby amended as follows:
(a) In accordance with section 53-103 and when properly signposted, traffic shall
move only in the direction indicated upon the streets and alleys set out in this
section. All streets designated as one-way during school days shall be one-way only
between those hours established by the director of traffic and transit director of
engineering services so as to be compatible with school hours and when so indicated
by signs.

SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause,
phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final
judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section,
paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance for it is the
definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.

SECTION 3. Publication shall be made one time in the official publication
of the City of Corpus Christi by publishing the caption stating in substance the purpose of
the ordinance, this ordinance to become effective upon such publication.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council
members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for immediate
action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs, such finding of
an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to
consideration and voting upon ordinances at three regular meetings so that this ordinance
is passed And shall ake effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the / 1--.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance an emergency
exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon
ordinances at three regular meetings; I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter
rule and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting
of the City Council.
