ESTABLISHING A LANDFILL SITE SELECTION
COMMITTEE.
WHEREAS, on February 25, 1992, the City Council
authorized the City Manager to proceed with the new sanitary
landfill site selection and permitting process and authorized
appointment of a Citizens' Advisory Committee, and authorized a
professional services contract with HDR Engineering, Inc., who will
assist in the planning and acquisition of the new sanitary landfill
site; and,
WHEREAS, on February 26, 1992, the City of Corpus Christi
and HDR Engineering, Inc., entered into a professional services
contract which provides for the Citizens' Advisory Committee to be
involved in many of the tasks to be performed by the consultant;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
Section 1. That there is hereby established a landfill
site advisory committee, which shall consist of nine members
appointed by the City Council. The committee shall assist the City
staff and engineering consultant in selecting a site for a sanitary
landfill to provide for future disposal of solid waste, and
specifically shall assist in developing site selection criteria,
evaluating potential sites, and obtaining public input. The
committee shall be dissolved effective the date following the date
on which the City Council approves 1the selection of the site.
