STOPPING, STANDING, OR PARKING NEAR HAZARDOUS OR CONGESTED PLACES BY DELETING THE EXISTING SECTION IN ITS ENTIRETY AND ADDING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION 53-152; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE; BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances, Chapter 53 Traffic, Section 53-152, is hereby amended by deleting it in its entirety and substituting therefor a new Sec, 53-152 to read as follows: • • nn rn..lsjEtb•t:•:0...:.Ids; —.O:. • l".s',t— .a1: -LION ......�• ay..� a6:.%zi The city traffic engineer is hereby authorized to designate by proper signs. placed in or along any public street right-of-wav of the city where the stopping. standing or parking of vehicles would create hazardous conditions or cause excessive delay to traffic. as follows: a. The city traffic engineer is authorized to place signs prohibiting or restricting the stopping. standing or parking of vehicles along any portion of any street under the city's jurisdiction where. in the opinion of the city traffic engineer such stoopine standing or parking is dangerous to those using the street or attempting to enter upon or cross the street, b. The city traffic engineer is authorized to place signs prohibiting or restricting the stopping. standing or parking of vehicles. for a distance not exceeding 1500 feet in continuous length per each side of the street. along the shoulder. parking lane or travel lane portion of any street under the city's jurisdiction where. in the opinion of the city traffic engineer. such stopping, standing or parking would unduly cause delay to traffic near congested intersections. SECTION 2. Publication shall be made in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi as required by the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.
