AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER 53, TRAFFIC,
SECTION 53-254, SCHEDULE V, INCREASING STATE SPEED LIMITS
IN CERTAIN ZONES, AND PROVIDING FOR THE INCREASE OR
DECREASE OF SPEED LIMITS UPON CERTAIN STREETS WITHIN
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI; PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE;
AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances, City of Corpus Christi, Chapter 53,
Traffic, Section 53-254, Schedule V, Increase of State Speed Limits in Certain Zones, is
hereby amended by deleting the following sections:
Ennis Joslin Road:
From a point 300 feet north of McArdle Road to South Padre Island Drive (S.H.
358) -- 40 MPH -- At all times.
Leopard Street (S.H.9):
From Rehfield Road west to the Missouri -Pacific railroad crossing -- 40 MPH -- At
all times.
North Padre Island Drive and South Padre Island Drive (S.H. 358) Expressway
Lanes:
From a point approximately 1,600 feet southeast of Greenwood Drive (Sta. 610 +
00) to a point approximately 1,152 feet north of Leopard Street (Sta. 877 + 02.09)
-- 55 MPH -- At all times.
Staples Street:
From a point 550 feet south of Wooldridge Road to a point 1,200 feet south of the
south right-of-way line of Saratoga Boulevard (South City Limits) -- 45 MPH -- At
all times;
and further deleting the boxed -in sections on pages 4424.3, 4424.4 and 4425 of The
Code of Ordinances as shown on Exhibit A, attached hereto and made a part hereof.

SECTION 2. That the Code of Ordinances, City of Corpus Christi, Chapter 53,
Traffic, Section 53-254, Schedule V. Increase of State Speed Limits in Certain Zones, is
hereby amended by adding the following sections:
Ennis Joslin Road:
From a point 300 feet north of McArdle Road to South Padre Island Drive -- 35
MPH -- At all times.
Leopard Street (Interstate 37 South Frontage Road):
From Rehfield Road to a point 1,975 feet west of Loma Alta Street -- 35 MPH -- At
all times.
Leopard Street (S.H. 9):
From Rehfield Road to a point 1,975 feet west of Loma Alta Street -- 35 MPH -- At
all times.
South Padre Island Drive (Park Road 22):
From a point 250 feet east of East Lakeside Drive center line to the southeast city
limit (Nueces-Kleberg County line) -- 55 MPH -- At all times.
North Padre Island Drive and South Padre Island Drive (S.H. 358) and Park Road
22 Expressway Lanes:
From a point 1,152 feet north of Leopard Street (Sta. 877 + 02.90) to a point 250
feet east of East Lakeside Drive center line -- 55 MPH -- At all times.
Staples Street:
From a point 500 feet south of Wooldridge Road center line to Saratoga Boulevard
center line -- 45 MPH -- At all times.
From Saratoga Boulevard center line to a point 75 feet south of Timbergate Drive
center line -- 50 MPH -- At all times.
From a point 75 feet south of Timbergate Drive center line to the south city limit --
55 MPH -- At all times.

SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word, or provisions of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final
judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section,
paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance for it is the
definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word, or provisions hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.
SECTION 4. Publication shall be made one time in the official publication of the
City of Corpus Christi by publishing the caption stating in substance the purpose of the
ordinance, this ordinance to become effective upon such publication.
