HomeMy WebLinkAbout021593 RES - 03/09/1993 (2)A RESOLUTION OPPOSING PASSAGE OF SENATE BILL 257 WHEREAS, 1. Present law requires performance and payment bonds for contracts exceeding $25,000 and prohibits the city from requiring a bond for projects which do not exceed that amount. 2. SB 257 would increase that threshold to $150,000. 3. Passage of SB 257 would increase risk to City taxpayers in connection with public works projects. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi opposes Senate Bill 257 and other substantially similar legislation. SECTION 2. That the City Manager and staff, as well as the Mayor and council members, are authorized to communicate to all local legislators and other pertinent officials the City's position expressed in this Resolution, and to take all steps necessary to support the position expressed herein.
