SUPPORTING PASSAGE OF HOUSE BILL 643
WHEREAS,
1. Present law denies cities the right to establish financial
criteria for sureties on city contracts.
2. Local authorities are best situated to determine the degree of
risk which should be taken with taxpayer money on a local
project.
3. House Bill 643 would permit cities to establish financial
criteria for sureties on city contracts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi supports
House Bill 643 and other substantially similar legislation.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager and staff, as well as
the Mayor and council members, are authorized to communicate to all
local legislators and other pertinent officials the City's position
expressed in this Resolution, and to take all steps necessary to
support the position expressed herein.
