HomeMy WebLinkAbout021595 RES - 03/09/1993A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING PASSAGE OF HOUSE BILL 891 WHEREAS, 1. Efforts to increase tourism are vital to the economic health of localities along the Gulf Coast and are important to citizens of the entire state. 2. Funds invested in promoting tourism will produce benefits for all our citizens. 3. State Representative Todd Hunter has introduced House Bill 891 which would permit counties bordering the Gulf of Mexico to use up to 50% of hotel occupancy tax revenues to promote tourism. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi supports House Bill 891 and other substantially similar legislation. SECTION 2. That the City Manager and staff, as well as the Mayor and council members, are authorized to communicate to all local legislators and other pertinent officials the City's position expressed in this Resolution, and to take all steps necessary to support the position expressed herein.
