SUPPORTING PASSAGE OF HOUSE BILL 494
WHEREAS,
1. Present state law is inadequate to protect citizens against
problems with alcohol in urban areas.
2. Local municipalities are best able to tailor regulation of
alcohol to address local problems.
3. House Bill 494 would permit
as the local regulation is
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
cities to regulate alcohol so long
stricter than the state's.
RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi supports
House Bill 494 and other substantially similar legislation.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager and staff, as well as
the Mayor and council members, are authorized to communicate to all
local legislators and other pertinent officials the City's position
expressed in this Resolution, and to take all steps necessary to
support the position expressed herein.
