SUPPORTING PASSAGE OF HOUSE BILL 172, HOUSE BILL 178, AND
SENATE BILL 191
WHEREAS,
1. Present state law procedures governing disposition of
abandoned and unclaimed personal property held by police
departments are unduly cumbersome and inflexible, which is a
detriment to productivity.
2. House Bill 172, House Bill 178, and Senate Bill 191 would
significantly improve procedures for disposing of such
abandoned and unclaimed property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi supports
House Bill 172, House Bill 178, and Senate Bill 191 and other
substantially similar Legislation.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager and staff, as well as
the Mayor and council members, are authorized to communicate to all
local legislators and other pertinent officials the City's position
expressed in this Resolution, and to take all steps necessary to
support the position expressed herein.
