AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER 53, TRAFFIC,
SECTION 53-254, SCHEDULE V INCREASE OF STATE SPEED LIMIT IN
CERTAIN ZONES BY REDUCING THE SPEED LIMIT ON UP RIVER
ROAD BETWEEN VIOLET ROAD AND HARNEY ROAD FROM 45 MPH
TO 35 MPH AND BETWEEN HARNEY ROAD AND SHARPSBURG ROAD
FROM 45 MPH TO 40 MPH, AND BY SETTING SPEED LIMITS FOR
THOSE PORTIONS OF UP RIVER ROAD WITHIN CITY LIMITS FROM
NAVIGATION BOULEVARD TO RENFROW ROAD. AT 40 MPH AND
FROM RENFROW ROAD TO RAND MORGAN ROAD AT 45 MPH;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances, City of Corpus Christi, Chapter 53,
Traffic, Section 53-254, Schedule V, decrease of State law maximum speed be amended as
follows:
by deleting the following section:
Up River Road:
times
and in lieu thereof adding:

From Navigation Boulevard to a point approximately 1,200 feet north
of Lantana Road -- 40 MPH -- At All Times
Those portions of Up River Road within the city limits between a
point 1,200 feet north of Lantana Road and Renfrow Road -- 40 MPH
-- At All Times
Those portions of Up River Road within the city limits between
Renfrow Road and Rand Morgan Road -- 45 MPH -- At All Times
From Violet Road to Harney Road -- 35 MPH -- At All Times
From Harney Road to Sharpsburg Road -- 40 MPH -- At All Times

SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word, or provisions of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final
judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section,
paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance for it is the
definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word, or provisions hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.
SECTION 3. Publication shall be made in the official publication of the City of
Corpus Christi as required by the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi.
