SUPPORTIN G THE ACTION OF THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT
OF TRANSPORTATION TO EXCHANGE/SELL EXCESS
RIGHT-OF-WAY AT THE INTERSECTION OF RODD FIELD
ROAD (S.H. 357) AND WILLIAMS DRIVE AND DECLARING
THAT THIS AREA IS NO LONGER NEEDED FOR USE BY
CITIZENS FOR ROADWAY PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, when Rodd Field Road (S.H. 357) was initially constructed in
the early 1940's, a large amount of right-of-way was acquired at intersecting roads to
accommodate a design utilizing detached right turn lanes; and
WHEREAS, with the development of Rodd Field Road as an urban arterial,
some of this right-of-way is now considered to be excess; and
WHEREAS, the adjacent property owners have approached the Texas
Department of Transportation to relinquish their interest in the area; and
WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation has asked the City to
concur in this action by passage of a resolution;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi supports the action of the
Texas Department of Transportation to exchange/sell excess right-of-way at the
intersection of Rodd Field Road (S.H. 357) and Williams Drive, as shown on the attached
Exhibit "A" and hereby declares that this area is no longer needed for use by citizens for
public purposes.
