HomeMy WebLinkAbout021923 ORD - 04/19/1994AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER 53, SECTION 53- 257, SCHEDULE VIII - PARKING METER ZONES, ESTABLISHED, BE AMENDED BY CONFIRMING THAT METER ZONE 8 IS A FOUR HOUR MAXIMUM PARKING METER ZONE, ADDING THE U.S. HIGHWAY 181 EAST ACCESS ROAD TO AN EIGHT-HOUR MINIMUM TIME LIMIT METER ZONE, AND CHANGING EAST SURFSIDE BOULEVARD FROM AN EIGHT-HOUR TO A FOUR-HOUR MAXIMUM TIME LIMIT PARKING METER ZONE AND REVISING THE HOURS OF PARKING METER ENFORCEMENT FOR METER ZONES 8 AND 9 FROM 8:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. TO 8:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M.; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES ASSESSED FOR VIOLATIONS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances, Chapter 53 - Traffic, Section 53- 257, Schedule VIII - Parking Meter Zones Established, be amended as follows: (h) Meter Zone No. 8 is established as a maximum four hour meter zone in which parking shall be limited to a minimum of one hour and a maximum of four (4) cight (8) hours upon the deposit of two quarters ($0.50) for each hour up to eight (8) quarters for four (4) hours, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. 6.00 p.m. every day of the week upon the following streets: (i) (1) North Shoreline Boulevard - Pearl Avenue to Coastal Avenue (2) Breakwater Avenue - North Shoreline Boulevard to East Surfside Avenue (3) Bridgeport Avenue - North Shoreline Boulevard to East Surfside Avenue (4) Coastal Avenue - North Shoreline Boulevard to East Surfside Avenue Meter Zone No. 9 is established as a maximum eight-hour meter zone in which parking shall be limited to a minimum of one hour and a maximum of eight (8) hours upon the deposit of one (1) quarter for each hour up to eight (., quarters for eight (8) hours, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:001ptr. 6:00 p.m. every day of the week upon the following streets: (1) Breakwater Avenue - East Surfside Avenue to West Surfside Avenue (2) West Surfside Avenue - Breakwater Avenue to Elm Avenue (3) East Surfside Avenue - Pearl Street to Elm Street SECTION 2. That the Code of Ordinances, Chapter 53 - Traffic, Section 53- 257, Schedule VIII - Parking Meter Zones Established, be amended by: (3) East Surfsidc Avenue Pearl Street to Elm Street (3) U.S. Highway 181 East Access Road - Breakwater Avenue to Coastal Avenue SECTION 3. That the Code of Ordinances, Chapter 53 - Traffic, Section 53- 257, Schedule VIII - Parking Meter Zones Established, be amended by creating a new Meter Zone 10: (j) Meter Zone No. 10 is established as a maximum four hour meter zone in which parking shall be limited to a minimum of one hour and a maximum of four (4) hours upon the deposit of one (1) ($0.25) quarter for each hour up to four (4) quarters for four (4) hours. between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. every day of the week upon the following streets: (1) East Surfside Boulevard - Pearl Street to Elm Street SECTION 4. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 5. Publication shall be made in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi as required by the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 6. Violation of these parking meter zones may result in traffic citations being issued and fines being assessed. AG5000500.abf 2 SECTION 7. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs, such findings of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shill take effect upon the first reading as an emergency this the / 9 day of , 19 9"f .
