ENDORSING THE PROPOSED COASTAL MANAGEMENT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the state of Texas has developed the Texas Coastal
Management Program to improve the management of the state's coastal
resources and to ensure the long-term ecological and economic
productivity of the coastal environment in the face of increasing
human pressures;
WHEREAS, the program is designed not only to meet the needs of
the Texas coast, but also to meet the requirements for acceptance
into the federal Coastal Zone Management Program; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the adoption of
the Coastal Management Program would best serve public health,
necessity and convenience and the general welfare of the City of
Corpus Christi and its citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI:
SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Corpus
Christi endorses the Coastal Management Plan as in the best
interests of the public health, necessity and convenience and the
general welfare of the City of Corpus Christi and its citizens.
