APPROPRIATING $200,000 RECEIVED FROM THE CORPUS CHRISTI
HOUSING FINANCE CORPORATION FOR ARCHITECTURAL AND
ENGINEERING SERVICES RELATING TO FACILITIES TO HOUSE THE
HISTORICAL COLUMBUS SHIP REPLICAS, THE NINA, PINTA, AND
SANTA MARIA, FOR DISPLAY ADJACENT TO AND IN CONJUNCTION
WITH THE CORPUS CHRISTI MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND HISTORY;
PROVIDING FOR REIMBURSEMENT TO SAID CORPORATION; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated $200,000 received from the Corpus Christi
Housing Finance Corporation for architectural and engineering relating to facilities to house the
historical Columbus Ship replicas, the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria, for display adjacent to and in
conjunction with the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History; which amount the City Manager
is directed to reimburse to said corporation upon receipt of proceeds from the anticipated sale of
certificates of obligation for the Columbus Ships project.
SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy
attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the
efficient and effective administration of City affairs, and to maintain the viability of the Columbus
ships as a viable historical and economic development project of the community, such finding of an
emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and
voting upon ordinances at three regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect
upon first reading as an emergency measure this the th day of

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance an emergency exists
requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at two
regular meetings: Uwe, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
