NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi requests that Nueces County reaffirm
its beach traffic orders included in its March 1992 Coastal Management Plan. In addition, the City
requests Nueces County to incorporate language into its traffic orders to reflect the following
provisions for controlling traffic and protecting pedestrians on the public beaches within its
jurisdiction:
1. It shall be an offense for a person to operate a vehicle within any portion of the beach area
designated as a "pedestrian safe area", defined as the area not less than 25 -feet seaward of the
vegetation line or the lower edge of the seawall separated from vehicular travel by means of
combination of (but not limited to) bollards, posts, poles, fencing and tethering.
2. Vehicular traffic, shall be restricted to a minimum 50 -foot linear corridor along the beach
where two-way traffic is permitted, or a minimum 25 -foot linear corridor along the beach
where one-way traffic is permitted. If less than these dimensions are provided, vehicular

3. It shall be an offense for any vehicle, trailer, travel -trailer, or combination thereof, to be
parked within any portion of the beach area designated as a "pedestrian safe area".

Provided however, that future annexations by the City of Corpus Christi may cause the City
to assume authority of traffic controls on sections of the beach within the City limits.
