HomeMy WebLinkAbout022162 ORD - 02/21/1995AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES CHAPTER 53 TRAFFIC, ARTICLE VI STANDING AND PARKING, DIVISION 4. PARKING METERS, SECTION 53-180 DEFINITIONS. TO ADD MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY AS A HOLIDAY; PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND FORGIVING ALL PARKING TICKETS ISSUED ON JANUARY 16, 1995 AND AUTHORIZING THE REFUND OF ALL FINES ALREADY PAID. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances, Chapter 53 Traffic, Article VI Standing and Parking, Division 4. Parking Meters, Section 53-180 Definitions, is hereby amended by adding the following to the definition of Holiday: Sec. 53-180. Definitions. Holiday: As used in this division and as appearing on parking meters, the word "holiday" shall mean any of the following days: (10) Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subsection, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 3. Publication shall be made in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi as required by the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 4.
