HomeMy WebLinkAbout022221 RES - 05/09/1995A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE PASSAGE OF LEGISLATION IN THE REGULAR SESSION OF THE 74TH LEGISLATURE TO ESTABLISH TERM LIMITS AND RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COMMISSIONERS OF THE PORT OF CORPUS CHRISTI. WHEREAS,a residency requirement for Commissioners of the Port of Corpus Christi will ensure that Commissioners will understand how their actions will affect the Coastal Bend and its residents; WHEREAS, the electorate of the City of Corpus Christi has previously determined that term limitations are appropriate for both the Mayor and City Council and the City's Boards and Commissions; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi endorses the passage of legislation in the Regular Session of the 74th Legislature that requires a person to have been a resident of Nueces County for at least six months to be eligible for appointment to the port commission of the Port of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That the City of Corpus Christi endorses the passage of legislation in the Regular Session of the 74th Legislature that requires that a person may not serve more than four full terms as a port commissioner of the Port of Corpus Christi.
