AMENDING ORDINANCE 5127, SECTION SOI, TO PROVIDE FOR AN APPROXIMATE 3% GENERAL INCREASE AND RANGE ADJUSTMENT FOR SALARY SCHEDULES A AND B AND GRADE 8, EFFECTIVE AUGUST 7,1993. AMENDING ORDINANCE 8127, SECTION 510, TO PROVIDE FOR, CONSISTENT WITH THE PAY ADJUSTMENTS REQUIRED BY THE FIRE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT FOR NON -MANAGERIAL PERSONNEL, APPROXIMATE ADJUSTMENTS TO FIRE MANAGERIAL SALARY RANGES OF 2.4% EFFECTIVE JULY 24, 1995, AND 2.5% EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 5,1996, AND TO PROVIDE AN APPROXIMATE 3% GENERAL INCREASE AND RANGE ADJUSTMENT TO NON POLICE AND FIRE MANAGERIAL CLASSIFICATIONS, AND EXCLUDING MUNICIPAL COURT JUDGES FROM THE GENERAL INCREASE, EFFECTIVE AUGUST 7, 1993. AMENDING ORDINANCE 8127, SECTION 700, SUBSECTION 707.1 TO BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH LIFE INSURANCE COVERAGE LIMITS SET BY STATE LAW. AMENDING ORDINANCE 8127, SECTION 954, FOR COMPLIANCE WITH THE UNIFORMED SERVICES EMPLOYMENT AND REEMPLOYMENT RIGHTS ACT OF 1994. AMEND ORDINANCE 8127, SECTION z000, TO CLARIFY LANGUAGE. PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION i. That Ordinance 3658, as amended, Section 250, Classification Plan for All Positions in the Classified Service, Subsections 251 through 257 be amended by amending Sections 251, 252, 253, 254, 255, 256, and 257 to read as shown in Exhibit A. SECTION 2. That Ordinance 8127, as amended, Section 501, Salary Schedules, be amended by providing an approximate 3% general increase and range adjustment for Salary Schedules A and B and Grade 8, rounded as appropriate, effective August 7, 1995, as shown in Exhibit B. 022283 M1441iLMEU PAGE 2 SECTION 3. That Ordinance 8127, as amended, Section 510, Managerial Group Pav Plan for 1994-95, be amended by adopting the revised Managerial Group Pay Plan 1995-96, attached hereto as Exhibit C, to provide approximate range adjustments of 2.5% effective July 24, 1995, and 2.5% effective February 5, 1996, for Fire Managerial classification within the Managerial Group, and to provide an approximate 3% general increase and range adjustment to other managerial classifications, excluding Police and Fire Managerial classifications, and excluding Municipal Court Judges from the general increase, effective August 7, 1995, rounded to the nearest hundred. SECTION 4• That Ordinance 8127, as amended, Section 700, Special Compensation Provisions, be amended by revising Subsection 707.1 to read as follows: 707.1 The City shall pay 100% of the cost of $50,000 term life insurance for all employees classified within the Managerial Group with the exception of the classification of Police Captain and all fire classifications below the rank of Fire Chief. An aAdditional $50,000 term life insurance shall be made available to these employees on an optional basis at personal expense not to exceed the limitation of coverage authorized by state law. SECTION 5• That Ordinance 8127, as amended, Section 950, Leaves of Absence, Subsection 954, Military Leave, be amended to read as follows: 954 Any permanent employee who presents official orders requiring his attendance for a period of training or other active duty as a member of the United States Armed Forces, the Texas State Reserve Corps, or the Texas State Guard shall be entitled to military leave with pay for a period or periods not exceeding a total of 15 ealendar days in any one year. Employees who perform and return from military service in the Armed Forces, the military Reserves, or the National Guard shall have and retain such rights with respect to reinstatement, seniority, vacation, layoffs, compensation, and length of service pay increases as may be from time to time provided by applicable statues of the United States, such as the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994, and the State of Texas, and official City policy. of the United States shall, if discharged, separated or T T PAGE 3 hcld at thc timc of induction, enlistment, or ordcr to active In ordcr to qualify for rccmploymcnt, thc cmploycc must make written application for reemployment within 90 days after SECTION 6. That Ordinance 8127, as amended, Section 1000, Requirements as to Continuity of Service, Subsection 1000.5 be amended to read as follows: 1000.5 Recognition of prior service for continuous service credit shall not be granted until satisfactory completion of the six men-th probationary period. SECTION 7. If, for any reason, any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this Ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this Ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.
