AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER 57, VEHICLES
FOR HIRE, SECTION 57-37 TAXICAB STREET USE FEE, SUBSECTIONS
(a), TO INCREASE THE STREET USE FEE TO $100 PER QUARTER;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That subsection (a) of Section 57-37 of the Code of Ordinances, City of
Corpus Christi, is amended to hereafter read as follows:
(a) Each owner holding a certificate to operate a taxicab upon the streets within the city
shall pay the city each three (3) month period as a taxicab street use fee an amount
equal to cighty scveirdellfns and fifty ccnts ($87.50) one hundred dollars and no
cents ($100.00) times the maximum number of vehicles authorized by a current and
valid certificate of convenience and necessity. The maximum number of vehicles
shall be no lower than five (5) vehicles for applicants filing an application for a
certificate after January 1, 1991.
SECTION 2. Providing for an effective date of August 1, 1995.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy
attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the
efficient and effective administration of City affairs, such finding of an emergency is made and
declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at
two regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an
emergency measure this the 25 Day of JGIQ.t,y , 1995.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance an emergency exists
requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at two
regular meetings: I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
