AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE CORPUS CHRISTI CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER
57, VEHICLES FOR HIRE, ARTICLE V, AUTO WRECKERS, SECTIONS
57-226, PERMIT ISSUANCE, 57-228, PERMIT TERM, AND 57-231, ADDING
VEHICLES; FEES. BY INCREASING THE ASSOCIATED FEES;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances, Sec. 57-226. Permit
issuance. is hereby amended as follows:
Sec. 57-226. Permit issuance.
The chief of police shall issue an auto wrecker permit to each owner whose application
complies with all requirements of this article upon owner's payment of a three hundred
fifteen dollar ($315.00) ($300.00) permit fee. The one hundred dollar ($100.00) application
fee shall be applied to the permit fee. In addition, the owner shall pay an auto wrecker
operation fee of one hundred twenty-six dollars ($126.00) ($120.00) for each auto wrecker
permitted to owner' s issued permit number.
SECTION 2. That the City of Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances, Sec. 57-228 Permit term. is
hereby amended as follows:
Sec. 57-228. Permit term.
Each auto wrecker permit shall be issued for one (1) year from January 1 to December 31.
If any auto wrecker permit is issued for less than one (1) year the three hundred fifteen dollar
($315.00) ($300:00) permit fee and one hundred twenty-six dollar ($126.00) ($120.00)
operation fee per auto wrecker shall be prorated based on the number of months remaining
until December 31. Renewal fees will be paid in the same manner as set out above. There
will be no refund of permit fees or operation fees.
SECTION 3. That the City of Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances, Sec. 57-231. Adding vehicles;
fees. is hereby amended as follows:
Sec. 57-231. Adding vehicles; fees.
Owner may add one (1) or more additional auto wreckers to the auto wrecker permit by filing a
supplemental application containing all information required by section 57-223. If the additional
auto wrecker complies with the requirements of sections 57-223 and 57-224, owner's auto wrecker
permit shall be amended to add the additional auto wrecker(s). The fee for adding auto wreckers to
an auto wrecker permit shall be one hundred twenty-six dollars ($126.00) ($120.00) prorated based
on the number of months remaining until December 31, provided the minimum fee for adding an

additional auto wrecker shall be fifty dollars ($50.00).
SECTION 4. That the City of Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances, Sec. 57-254. Maximum auto
wrecker service and storage fees. is hereby amended as follows:
(6) Administrative fee for processing and records management....$11.00 $10.00
SECTION 5. Providing for an effective date of August 1, 1995.
SECTION 6. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached,
to fmd and declare an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient
and effective administration of City affairs, such finding of an emergency is made and declared
requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at three
regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance an emergency exists
requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at two
regular meetings: I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule and pass this
ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
