HomeMy WebLinkAbout022301 ORD - 07/25/1995AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER 53, TRAFFIC, SECTION 53-195, SUBSECTIONS (2), (3), and (6) TO INCREASE THE PERMIT FEE/SERVICE CHARGE FOR USE OF PARKING LANES, LOADING ZONES, TRAFFIC LANES, SIDEWALKS AND ALLEY SPACE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That subsection (2), subsection (3), and subsection (6) of Section 53-195 of the Code of Ordinances, City of Corpus Christi, is amended to hereafter read as follows: (2) For occupancy of parking lanes and curbside loading zones, assessment of charges of one and thirty-five cents ($0.0135) one dollar and thirty fivc ccnts ($1.35)** a square foot per day (minimum charge of $2.25 per day) for occupancy of metered parking spaces, sixeents-($0.06) one and thirty five hundredths of a cent ($0.0135) a square foot per day (minimum charge of $1.00 per day) for occupancy of unmetered parking spaces, and one dollar and two ccnts ($1.02) two and seven ($0.027) a square foot per day (minimum charge of $2.00 per day) for occupancy of commercial loading zones. Charges would be based on the width of right-of-way occupied from the barricading equipment or barriers in the roadway to the face of curb or edge of pavement (in the case of curbless streets). For temporary restrictions and reservation of parking at meter spaces which are to be hooded, no more than five (5) metered spaces are to be hooded at any one time by an applicant. Such parking reservation would be expressly limited to bulk loading/unloading activities and parking of construction vehicles integral to the construction activities. "Parking lane" as used in this section shall be defined as any portion of the paved street totally dedicated for curbside parking, measured from the face of curb to a point eight (8) feet into the street from the face of the curb. (3) H:\ag5000.735.vr For occupancy of traffic lane and sidewalk/alley space, there would be an assessed charge of : - .. ., :, .0 three cents ($0.03) a square foot per day (minimum charge of $5.00 per day) and three cents ($0.03) a square foot per day (minimum charge of $2.00 per day), respectively. Charges would be based on the width of right-of-way occupied in the traffic lane or between the face of curb (or edge of pavement) and right-of-way line (property line),In the case of alley space, if all or part of the alleyway is blocked such as to prevent any vehicle access, the contractor would be assessed for the full right-of-way of the alleyway. "Sidewalk" as used in this section shall be defined as any portion of the street between the curb or the lateral line of the roadway and the adjacent property line, all or a part of which is intended for the use of pedestrians. 022301 (6) Whenever parking meters and their support pipe must be removed, there will be a charge of twenty five dollars ($25.00) for the first meter removed and four dollars -($4:90) six dollars and twenty five cents ($6.25) for each additional meter. **The City Code of Ordinances was incorrectly codified from Ordinance No. 18573A approved on November 29, 1984. SECTION 2. Providing for an effective date of August 1, 1995. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that tis ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the L5 Day of _TI, ,, 1995.
