AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR HIS DESIGNEE, TO SUBMIT
AN ENHANCEMENT PROJECT APPLICATION FOR THE OLD NUECES
COUNTY COURTHOUSE: EXTERIOR REHABILITATION/GATEWAY
PARK PHASE I, CONTRACT II FOR THE STATEWIDE
TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM, AS ADMINISTERED
BY THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, AND AN
EXPRESSION OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI'S WILLINGNESS TO
COMMIT TO MATCHING FUNDS FOR THE REQUIRED 20 PERCENT
FUNDING MATCH FOR THE OLD NUECES COUNTY COURTHOUSE:
EXTERIOR REHABILITATION/GATEWAY PARK PHASE I, CONTRACT
II, SUBJECT TO IDENTIFYING AN APPROPRIATE FUNDING SOURCE.
WHEREAS, the Old Nueces County Courthouse: Exterior Rehabilitation/Gateway Park
Phase I, Contract II, will benefit the citizens of and visitors to Corpus Christi by providing a more
attractive appearance to the Gateway entrance to the Corpus Christi Bayfront area; and
WHEREAS, planned improvements along each of Interstate 37 and Shoreline Boulevard
as part of the Gateway Park Project will be better integrated with the Downtown Business District
with construction of the Old Nueces County Courthouse Exterior Rehabilitation project; and
WHEREAS, the Statewide Transportation Enhancement Program is designed to benefit
projects such as the Old Nueces County Courthouse Exterior Rehabilitation/Gateway Park Phase
I, Contract II as proposed by the City and the Devary Durrill Foundation, Inc. of Corpus Christi,
Texas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to submit an enhancement
program application for Statewide Transportation Enhancement Program funds to design and
construct the Old Nueces County Courthouse Exterior Rehabilitation/Gateway Park Phase I,
Contract II.
SECTION 2. The City of Corpus Christi is willing to commit to matching funds from the
Gateway project for the required minimum 20 percent local funding match, so long as an
appropriate source of the match can be feasibly identified for the Old Nueces County Courthouse
Exterior Rehabilitation/Gateway Park Phase I, Contract II.
