HomeMy WebLinkAbout022519 ORD - 03/26/1996A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF A CERTIFICATE OF CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY TO CLASSY TAXI COMPANY, MRS. MARGARITA LOPEZ, OWNER, FOR THE OPERATION OF A MAXIMUM OF FIVE TAXICABS WITHIN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI FOR A FIVE-YEAR PERIOD EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY; SUBJECT TO COMPLIANCE WITH ALL TERMS AND CONDITIONS ESTABLISHED IN CHAPTER 57, ARTICLE II, TAXICABS, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES. WHEREAS, Classy Taxi Company has made application to obtain a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity pursuant to the requirements set out in Chapter 57 of the Code of Ordinances; and WHEREAS, Section 57-33 of the Code of Ordinances requires that the City Manager or his designee make a determination of whether the public convenience and necessity will justify the granting of additional taxicab service; and WHEREAS, a public hearing was held pursuant to the requirements of Section 57-35 of the Code of Ordinances to allow holders of taxicab certificates or other citizens to file any comments, complaints or protests regarding the issuance of a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity to Classy Taxi Company; and WHEREAS, Classy Taxi Company has demonstrated its ability to satisfy the public convenience and necessity for additional taxicab service. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity is issued to Classy Taxi Company, Mrs. Margarita Lopez, owner, for the operation of a maximum of five taxicabs within the City of Corpus Christi for a five-year period effective immediately; subject to compliance with all terms and conditions established in Chapter 57, Article 11, Taxicabs, of the Code of Ordinances; further conditioned upon regulations to be established by the City Manager or his designee requiring separate operation of Classy Taxi Company from the Airport Shuttle and Limousine Service to assure fair competition among taxi companies. SECTION 2. That this resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage.
