HomeMy WebLinkAbout022648 ORD - 07/30/1996AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATION OF $8,313,000 FOR COMMUNITY PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM PROJECTS/ACTIVITIES THAT INCLUDES 1) $6,585,000 FOR FY96 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) PROJECTS; 2) $134,000 FOR FY96 EMERGENCY SHELTER GRANTS (ESG) ACTIVITIES; AND 3) $1,594,000 FOR FY 96 HOME INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIPS (HOME) PROGRAM TO THE FEDERAL/STATE GRANT FUND NO. 162 FOR PROJECTS/ACTIVITIES APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON MAY 21, 1996; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated Eight Million Three Hundred Thirteen Thousand Dollars ($8,313,000) for Community Planning and Development Program projects/activities that includes 1) $6,585,000 for FY96 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) projects; 2) $134,000 for FY96 Emergency Shelter Grants (ESG) activities; and 3) $1,594,000 for FY 96 Home Investment Partnerships (HOME) program to the FederaUState Grant Fund No. 162 for projects/activities approved by the City Council on May 21, 1996. SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance for it is the definite intent of this City council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the ,30 day of ATTEST: City Secretary 96NH1410.101 ,19 THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI MAYO THE CITY OF 02264u ORPUS CHRISTI APPROVED THIS THE 22ND DAY OF JULY 1996.
