AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, SECTION 53-254, SCHEDULE
V -- INCREASE IN STATE SPEED LIMIT IN CERTAIN ZONES BY
REDUCING THE SPEED LIMIT ON SOUTH STAPLES STREET FROM 45
MPH TO 40 MPH BETWEEN A POINT 500 -FEET SOUTH OF
WOOLDRIDGE ROAD TO SARATOGA BOULEVARD; PROVIDING FOR
PUBLICATION; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances, Section 53-254, Schedule
V, is hereby amended by deleting the following existing sections:
Staples Street:
From the south right-of-way line of Burnham Drive to a point 500 -feet south of Wooldridge
Road -- 40 mph -- At all times
From a point 500 -feet south of Wooldridge Road center line to Saratoga Boulevard center
line -- 45 mph -- At all times
and in lieu thereof adding:
Staples Street:
From the south right-of-way line of Burnham Drive to the center line of Saratoga Boulevard
-- 40 mph -- At all times
SECTION 2. Publication shall be made one time in the official publication of the City of
Corpus Christi as required by the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 3. A violation of these speed limits may result in a citation being issued and a
fine being assessed.
