NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The City Council endorses consolidated functions with Nueces County on an individual basis where it benefits the taxpayers with more economical and responsive services. SECTION 2. The Texas Legislature is requested to exclude Nueces County from any legislation or constitutional amendment permitting general consolidation of governments, such as HJR 47 which was proposed in the 1995 Legislature. SECTION 3. The City Council finds that general consolidation of governmental entities presents many economic and legal questions and should be tested first in very large cities before being made available in Nueces County. SECTION 4. This resolution shall be distributed to members of the Legislature and the Governor. 022689 tg9B1.MED ATTEST: City Secretary APPROVED THIS THE /0 DAY OF JAMES R.
