AMENDING ORDINANCE 3658, AS AMENDED, SUBSECTIONS 251 THROUGH 257,
REVISING CLASSIFICATION SCHEDULES. AMENDING ORDINANCE 8127,
SECTION 501, TO PROVIDE FOR AN APPROXIMATE 3$ GENERAL INCREASE AND
RANGE ADJUSTMENT, ROUNDED AS APPROPRIATE, FOR SALARY SCHEDULES A
AND B AND GRADE 8, EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 25, 1996. AMENDING ORDINANCE
8127, SECTION 510, TO PROVIDE FOR AN APPROXIMATE 3% GENERAL
INCREASE AND RANGE ADJUSTMENT TO MANAGERIAL CLASSIFICATIONS IN THE
MANAGERIAL GROUP PAY PLAN, INCLUDING COUNCIL -APPOINTED POSITIONS,
ROUNDED AS APPROPRIATE, EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 25, 1996. AMENDING
ORDINANCE 3658, SECTION 151.2, TO CORRESPOND WITH DEFINITION OF
PROBATIONARY PERIOD IN CIVIL SERVICE BOARD RULES AND REGULATIONS.
AMENDING ORDINANCE 8127, SECTION 700, SUBSECTION 707.1, TO CLARIFY
THAT TERM LIFE INSURANCE FOR POLICE AND FIRE MANAGERIAL PERSONNEL
IS COVERED IN COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENTS. PROVIDING FOR
SEVERANCE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance 3658, as amended, Section 250,
Classification Plan for All Positions in the Classified Service,
Subsections 251 through 257 be amended by amending Sections 251,
252, 253, 254, 255, 256, and 257 to read as shown in Exhibit A.
SECTION 2. That Ordinance 8127, as amended, Section 501, Salary
Schedules, be amended by providing an approximate 38 general
increase and range adjustment for Salary Schedules A and B and
Grade 8, rounded as appropriate, effective November 25, 1996, as
shown in Exhibit C.
SECTION 3. That Ordinance 8127, as amended, Section 510,
Manacerial Group Pay Plan for 1995-96, be amended by adopting the
revised Managerial Group Pay Plan 1996-97, attached hereto as
Exhibit B, to provide an approximate 3% general increase, not to
exceed the range maximum; and to provide, with certain equitable
exceptions, a 34 range adjustment to classifications within the
1996-97 Managerial Group Pay Plan, as reflected in said Exhibit B;
and housekeeping revisions to the Managerial Group Pay Plan for FY
96-97.

SECTION 4. That Ordinance 3658, as amended, Section 150,
Application and Interpretation of Classification Plan, Subsection
151.2, be amended to read as follows:
151.2 Each employee shall be notified of the allocation of
his/Tier position, and each employee having who has
satisfactorily served in a classified position and
completed the applicable probationary period as provided
in Article III, Section 3, of the Civil Service Board
Rules and Regulations f__ ____ ___ths _ mo - is hereby
given civil service status in such position provided that
in the Police and Fire service no promotions in rank
shall be achieved except in accordance with the rules on
promotions in the Police and Fire Departments.
SECTION 5. That Ordinance 8127, as amended, Section 700,
Special Compensation Provisions, be amended by revising Subsection
707.1 to read as follows:
707.1 The City shall pay 100% of the cost of $50,000 term life
insurance for all employees classified within the
Managerial Group with the exception of the classification

classifications which shall be covered by Police and Fire
Collective Bargaini g Agreements Additional term life
insurance shall be made available to these employees on
an optional basis at personal expense not to exceed the
limitation of coverage authorized by state law.
SECTION 6. If, for any reason, any section, paragraph,
subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this Ordinance
shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a
court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other
section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision
of this Ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City
Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word, or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its
purpose.
