HomeMy WebLinkAbout022774 RES - 11/26/1996RESOLUTION ENDORSING TWO CITY GRANT APPLICATIONS AND ONE FROM THE CORPUS CHRISTI BEACH ASSOCIATION TO THE COASTAL MANAGEMENT PROGRAM FOR IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS CONSISTENT WITH THE CORPUS CHRISTI COASTAL MANAGEMENT PLAN; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO SUSBMIT THE CITY'S TWO GRANT APPLICATIONS. WHEREAS, the State of Texas will be distributing second grant cycle funds from the U.S. Department of Commerce -National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for implementation of state Coastal Management Programs; and WHEREAS, the Coastal Coordinating Council of the Texas General Land Office administers the Texas Coastal Management Program; and WHEREAS, the Coastal Coordinating Council has pledged to distribute approximately 90% of the federal funds awarded to Texas to eligible entities in the coastal zone for projects that implement the Coastal Management Program goals and policies, including wetland enhancement, shoreline access improvements, waterfront revitalization, environmental data base development, etc.; and WHEREAS, the applications must be received by December 2, 1996 and reequire a 20% local match, which may be in-kind services. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The City Council hereby endorses the two City grant applications for (1) engineering design for upland and wetlands development on Oso Creek and (2) acquisition of public beach access on Mustang Island, and the application by the Corpus Christi Beach Association for a Corpus Christi Beach Master Plan. SECTION 2. The City Manager, or designee, is hereby authorized to submit these grant applications to the Coastal Management Program.
