HomeMy WebLinkAbout022804 ORD - 12/17/1996ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE AN EXTENSION OF THE LEASE AGREEMENTS WITH PAGAN-LEWIS MOTORS dba BUDGET RENT -A -CAR OF CORPUS CHRISTI, INC., COASTAL BEND RENT -A -CAR, INC. dba AVIS RENT -A -CAR, MAR JEAN TEXAS, INC. dba HERTZ CAR RENTAL, NATIONAL CAR RENTAL OF CORPUS CHRISTI, INC., ON A MONTH-TO-MONTH BASIS, FOR A PERIOD NOT TO EXCEED 12 MONTHS, FOR USE OF SPACE AT THE CORPUS CHRISTI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, The City entered into a Lease Agreement with Pagan -Lewis Motors dba Budget Rent-A-Car of Corpus Christi, Inc., authorized by Ordinance No. 021273 on October 29, 1991, which was extended to December 31, 1996 by Ordinance No. 022047; WHEREAS, The City entered into a Lease Agreement with Coastal Bend Rent-A-Car, Inc. dba Avis Rent-A-Car, authorized by Ordinance No. 021273 on October 29, 1991, which was extended to December 31, 1996 by Ordinance No. 022047; WHEREAS, The City entered into a Lease Agreement with Mar Jean Texas, Inc. dba Hertz Car Rental, authorized by Ordinance No. 021273 on October 29, 1991, which was extended to December 31, 1996 by Ordinance No. 022047; WHEREAS, The City entered into a Lease Agreement with National Car Rental of Corpus Christi, Inc., authorized by Ordinance No. 021273 on October 29, 1991, which was extended to December 31, 1996 by Ordinance No. 022047; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to execute an extension to the Lease Agreements with PAGAN-LEWIS MOTORS dba BUDGET RENT -A -CAR OF CORPUS CHRISTI, INC., COASTAL BEND RENT -A -CAR, INC. dba AVIS RENT -A -CAR, MAR JEAN TEXAS, INC. dba HERTZ CAR RENTAL, NATIONAL CAR RENTAL OF CORPUS CHRISTI, INC., to extend the Lease Agreements, on a month-to-month basis, for a period not to exceed 12 months, under same terms and conditions as the existing Lease Agreements, all of which are on file with City Secretary and Corpus Christi International Airport. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance is assed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the OF k day o t%'Yl,ha) , 1996. TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance an emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings: I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
