APPROPRIATING $70,816 FROM THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF
HUMAN SERVICES IN THE NO. 162 STATE AND FEDERAL GRANTS
FUND TO EXPAND THE SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM TO
INCLUDE YOUTH AT VARIOUS LOCAL AGENCIES WHICH SPONSOR
SUMMER YOUTH RECREATION PROGRAMS; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That $70,816 is hereby appropriated from the Texas Department of Human
Services in the No. 162 State and Federal Grants Fund to expand the Summer Food Service Program
to include youth at the following local agencies which sponsor summer youth recreation programs:
Neighborhood Centers of Corpus Christi, Inc. at Molina, Boys & Girls Club of Corpus Christi, Boys
& Girls Club of Corpus Christi - La Armada Branch, Gulf Coast Council of La Raza,Communities
in Schools and Cliff Maus Village.
SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy
attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the
efficient and effective administration of city affairs, such finding of an emergency is made and
declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at
two regular meetings so that this ordinance is ansshed, ,and shall take effect upon first reading as an

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance an emergency exists
requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at two
regular meetings: I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule and pass this
ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
