RECOMMENDING THAT THE TEXAS WATER DEVELOPMENT BOARD
(TWDB) APPOINT CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS REPRESENTING ELEVEN
DIFFERENT INTERESTS CATEGORIES, AS SPECIFIED IN SENATE BILL
1, AND TWO ADDITIONAL INTERESTS TO REPRESENT THE SPECIAL
NEEDS OF THE REGION, TO CONSTITUTE THE INITIAL REGIONAL
WATER PLANNING GROUP THAT WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
IMPLEMENTING THE REGIONAL WATER PLANNING PROGRAM IN
REGION "N" OF THE TWDB DESIGNATED PLANNING REGIONS; AND
DIRECTING THAT THE LIST OF NAMES BE FORWARDED TO THE
TWDB FOR THEIR CONSIDERATION.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Senate Bill 1 (75th Texas Legislature), planning for each regional
water planning area is to be carried out by a regional water planning group, appointed by the Texas
Water Development Board (TWDB), representing the following eleven interest categories:
municipalities, counties, water districts, water utilities, river authorities, industries, small businesses,
agriculture, electrical generating utilities, environmental groups, and the public; and
WHEREAS, proposed TWDB rules would permit other persons to be appointed to represent
the special needs of the region; and
WHEREAS, the TWDB has asked for assistance in identifying consensus nominees from
those individuals and entities that collectively represents each interest; and
WHEREAS, whereas a consensus list has been developed for the planning area that includes
Corpus Christi and the area to which it supplies water.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City of Corpus Christi hereby recommends to the TWDB that it appoint
the persons listed on Exhibit A, attached hereto and incorporated herein, to serve as the regional
water planning group for Region "N" of the TWDB designated planning regions.
SECTION 2. The City Secretary is hereby directed to transmit a true copy of this resolution
to the TWDB.
