HomeMy WebLinkAbout023186 ORD - 01/13/1998AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR HIS DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH THE COASTAL BEND COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS THAT WILL FUND AN ADDITIONAL CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER FOR SOLID WASTES SERVICES AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the Coastal Bend Council of Governments ("CBCOG") has entered into an interlocal agreement with the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission ("TNRCC") to provide "pass through" grants to local governments; and WHEREAS, one of the TNRCC's priorities is to provide supplemental funding to local governments for the enforcement of the Solid Waste Disposal Act and Texas Litter Abatement Act; and WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi applied for a "pass through" grant to fund an additional Code Enforcement Officer for Solid Waste Services. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager, or his designee, is hereby authorized to execute an interlocal agreement with the Coastal Bend Council of Governments whereby the City will hire an additional Code Enforcement Officer for Solid Waste Services. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at three regular meetings so that this ordinance t assed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the 13th day of �j Ll(L}t.Lj I THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI ATTEST: Armando Chapa, City Secretary APPROVED: 8 day of 1998.
