HomeMy WebLinkAbout023220 ORD - 02/17/1998AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING A GRANT OF $28,480.00, RECEIVED FROM THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY DIVISION OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT, IN THE NO. 162 FEDERAL/STATE GRANTS FUND FOR HAZARDOUS MATERIALS EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PLANNING; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI: SECTION 1. That $28,480.00, which will be reimbursed through a contract with the Texas Department of Public Safety Division of Emergency Management, is appropriated from No. 162 Federal/State Grant Fund to prepare hazardous materials emergency preparedness planning, conduct hazardous materials incident command training, and develop a public education program for airing on public television. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs, in meeting Texas Department of Public Safety Division of Emergency Management reporting deadlines to secure grant funding, such finding of an emergency is made and declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the // th day of February, 1998.
