RECOGNIZING AND HONORING TOM AND CORA KEELER FOR THEIR
GENEROUS FINANCIAL SUPPORT WHICH PROVIDED FUNDING FOR
THE GULF COAST HUMANE SOCIETY TO BUILD A NEW STATE-OF-
THE-ART ANIMAL SHELTER FACILITY IN CORPUS CHRISTI.
WHEREAS, Cora Keeler has loved animals all her life; and
WHEREAS, Cora and Tom Keeler have donated $3,000,000 for the Gulf Coast Humane
Society to construct a new state of the art animal shelter facility off Saratoga near Cabaniss Field;
and
WHEREAS, the Corpus Christi City Council recognizes and honors the importance of
private contributions to the quality of life for the citizens of Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend
such as Cora and Tom Keeler have made to the Gulf Coast Humane Society; and
WHEREAS, the Corpus Christi City Council joins Cora and Tom Keeler in urging the
citizens of Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend to support the continued operation of the new animal
shelter facility.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council recognizes and honors Cora and Tom Keeler for their
generous contribution which provided funding for the Gulf Coast Humane Society to build a state-
of-the-art animal shelter facility in Corpus Christi.
