APPROPRIATING S1,000,000 FROM A COASTAL BEND COMMUNITY
FOUNDATION GRANT IN THE NO. 263MUSEUM EXPANSION BOND
FUND FOR THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE DISCOVERY
HALL ADDITION TO THE CORPUS CHRISTI MUSEUM OF SCIENCE
AND HISTORY AND RELATED EXHIBITS; AMENDING ORDINANCE NO.
023174, WHICH APPROVED THE FY 97-98 CAPITAL BUDGET, TO ADD
$1,000,000 TO THE MUSEUM PROGRAM; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That $1.000,000 from a Coastal Bend Community Foundation Grant is
appropriated in the No. 263 Museum Expansion Bond Fund for design and construction of the
Discovery Hall Additon to the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History, including the Santa
Maria Plaza connection and related exhibits.
SECTION 2. That Ordinance No. 023174, which approved the FY 97-98 Capital Budget,
is amended to add $1,000,000 to the Museum Program.
SECTION 3. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy
attached, to find and declare an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the
efficient and effective administration of City affairs, such finding of an emergency is made and
declared requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at
two regular meetings so that this ordinance passed and shall take effect upon first reading as an
emergency measure this the day of 1998.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance an emergency exists
requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting upon ordinances at two
regular meetings: I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
