HomeMy WebLinkAbout023410 RES - 08/18/1998RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE RESOLUTION OF THE GREATER CORPUS CHRISTI BUSINESS ALLIANCE SUPPORTING THE RELOCATION OF POWER SYSTEM WORKLOADS FROM KELLY AIR FORCE BASE TO CORPUS CHRISTI ARMY DEPOT WHEREAS, on July 28, 1998, the Greater Corpus Christi Business Alliance adopted its Resolution Supporting the Relocation of Power System Workloads from Kelly Air Force Base to Corpus Christi Army Depot (attached as Exhibit A); and WHEREAS, relocation of the power system workload to the Corpus Christi Army Depot would benefit the economy of the Corpus Christi area as well as the State of Texas and would have the benefits recited in the Alliance's Resolution. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The City of Corpus Christi endorses the Resolution of the Greater Corpus Christi Business Alliance Supporting the Relocation of Power System Workloads from Kelly Air Force Base to Corpus Christi Army Depot. Visitors • Economic Development • Sinai' Bu>iness Davelopment RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE RELOCATION OF POWER SYSTEM WORKLOADS FROM KELLY AIR FORCE BASE TO CORPUS CHRISTI ARMY DEPOT WHEREAS WHEREAS WHEREAS WHEREAS WHEREAS WHEREAS WHEREAS the activities and responsibilities of the Greater Corpus Christi Business Alliance are devoted to the economic well being of our community, and the local economy relies heavily on the maintenance and growth of area military facilities, and the power system workloads currently being done at Kelly Air Force Base are already scheduled for relocation, and locating the power system workload to the Corpus Christi Army Depot would reduce the overall cost of moving the operation, as the test facility and test equipment are already in place at CCAD, and a move to CCAD would allow many more experienced workers from Kelly AFB to transfer, thereby decreasing the costs of hiring and training a new workforce, and retaining the workload in Texas would be an economic win for the whole state, and the power system workloads require 469 direct labor personnel at a dollar value of $78,223,000. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Greater Corpus Christi Business Alliance hereby supports the relocation of the power system workloads currently at Kelly Air Force Base to the Corpus Christi Anny Depot.
