AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
CHAPTER 21, GARBAGE, TRASH, AND OTHER REFUSE, TO ESTABLISH
A FEE SCHEDULE FOR THE SALE OF MULCH; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERANCE; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND PROVIDING
FOR PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, the City's Solid Waste Service Department's brush and yardwaste grinding program
is producing a marketable mulch product that can be used to recover some of the costs of the
composting program;
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Chapter 21, Garbage, Trash, and Other Refuse, of the Code of Ordinances, City of
Corpus Christi, is amended by adding a new section 21-33, to read as follows:
"Sec. 21-33. Mulch Sales.
"(a) The Director of Solid Waste Services is -authorized to shall sell mulch from
the City's brush and yardwaste grinding program based on the following fee
schedule:
Up to 10 tons
Over 10 tons
$10.00 per ton
9.00 per ton
"(b) The Director of Solid Waste Services
shall allow residential customers to load for themselves, at no charge, small
quantities of mulch, up to one pickup truck load."
SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or
provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court
of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause,
phrase, word or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City Council that
every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be given full
force and effect for its purpose.
SECTION 3. This ordinance is effective on September 1, 1998.
SECTION 4. Publication shall be made in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi
as required by the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi.
