HomeMy WebLinkAbout023452 ORD - 09/29/1998ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2-217 OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI CODE OF ORDINANCES TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF MEMBERS OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI COMMISSION ON CHILDREN AND YOUTH FROM TWELVE (12) TO FOURTEEN (14); PROVIDING THAT ONE MEMBER SHALL BE A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE NUECES COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE; PROVIDING THAT ONE MEMBER SHALL BE A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE NUECES COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Section 2-217 of the City Code of Ordinances for the City of Corpus Christi is amended as follows: Sec. 2-217. Membership. The commission shall consist of twelve (12) fourteen (14) members appointed by the city council. Each appointee shall have demonstrated interest in the welfare of children or youth through occupation or through association with community-based organizations. One (1) member shall be representative of each of the following fields: health, social service, religion, legal, law enforcement, education, business and youth services. One member shall be a representative of the Nueces County Sheriff's Office. One member shall be a representative of the Nueces County District Attorney's Office. Any member who ceases substantial activity in the field or office represented automatically resigns from the commission. One (1) member shall be a youth representative from sixteen (16) to twenty-one (21) years of age at time of appointment. SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this resolution shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not effect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this resolution. It is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.
