AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR HIS DESIGNEE, TO
EXECUTE A CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT
WITH TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION IN THE AMOUNT
OF $35,700 FOR PRELIMINARY ENGINEERING SERVICES AND BRIDGE
CONSTRUCTION ASSOCIATED WITH THE BEAR LANE BRIDGE
REPLACEMENT PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the existing Bear Lane Bridge is a timber structure that is inadequate both
hydraulically and structurally; and
WHEREAS, a multi -barrel box culvert will be installed on Bear Lane between Heinsohn
Road and Talbert Road to replace the existing bridge; and
WHEREAS, this installation of a multi -barrel box culvert is required to facilitate the
anticipated future widening of the Margaret Kelly Drainage Channel; and
WHEREAS, the Bear Lane Bridge Replacement Project will be coordinated with the Texas
Department of Transportation ("TxDOT") for Federal/State funding under the Off -State System
Bridge Rehabilitation Program; and
WHEREAS, a Construction and Maintenance Agreement is needed for TxDOT to prepare
the engineering documentation, let the construction contract, and provide the construction inspection;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to execute a
Construction and Maintenance Agreement with Texas Department of Transportation for engineering
services and bridge construction associated with the Bear Lane Bridge Replacement Project.
