HomeMy WebLinkAbout023999 ORD - 04/11/2000ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING A GRANT FROM THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH IN THE AMOUNT OF $310,669 IN THE NO. 1050 FEDERAL/STATE GRANT FUND TO FUND NUTRITION EDUCATION, INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING, IMMUNIZATION SERVICES, AND TO DISTRIBUTE FOOD VOUCHERS AT NO COST TO INDIVIDUALS IDENTIFIED AS HAVING NUTRITIONAL DEFICIENCIES AND/OR NUTRITIONAL RISK; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That a grant from the Texas Department of Health in the mount of $310,669 to fund nutrition education, individual com~seling, immunization services, and to distribute food vouchers at no cost to individuals identified as having nutritional deficiencies and/or nutritional risk is appropriated in the No. 1050 Federal/State Grants Fund. SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy attached, the City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs and (2) suspends the Charter rule that requires consideration of and voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and takes effect upon first reading as an emergency measure this the ~ day of/5~j0~./' {7 7 ,2000.
